Bridal Fashion Week - Fall 2012
We’ve got the post-Bridal Fashion Week blues, as 3-days of stunning designs finished up on the New York runways earlier this week. Now we can pour over the pictures and anticipate all of the lucky brides who will wear these designs at their upcoming weddings!
The trends of this year’s Bridal Fashion Week seemed to include some of the standard designs in new ways like corset bodices, ruffles, lace and off-white gowns. Great designers can keep these basic gown elements fresh and make them feel new by keeping them on-trend. Many designers accomplished this on the runways this season, and had us shocked and awed at the elegance and reinvention of these "standard" fabrics and silhouettes.
We also loved some of the more striking trends of peplums, sheer overlays, sleeves, off-the-shoulder necklines and sequins. We love the enchanted and fantastical sense of romance with these more exotic dress elements, structures and designs. The creativity and variety shown this year was fantastic!
Of course, designers (who think, dream and create the trends before we even know about them) did a really great job of including most of the new trends in their line, some dresses incorporated multiple trends at one time (a beaded gown with lace sleeves and a peplum), which we think looked absolutely stunning!
